The Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast, as part of its 75^th Jubilee organized successfully a business forum, fostering networking among Catholic entities and enhancing capacity for Catholic business owners to operate with Catholic values. The event, held at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chaplaincy, began with a Eucharistic celebration led by Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast.

The forum, themed “Catholic Values in Business: Opportunities and Challenges,” brought together priests, religious, and the laity involved in various Archdiocesan ministries. Fr. Gideon Awuah, representing Catholic Health Services, urged Catholic business entities to invest in staff accommodation facilities at the Archdiocesan hospitals to enhance healthcare delivery. He further numbered a few of the social teachings of the Church which are practised in the health service, which are to embody every Catholic business entity, such as respect for human dignity, preferential option for the poor and stewardship, et al.

Fr. Francis Odoom emphasized the importance of Catholic organizations prioritizing values like honesty, integrity, faith, compassion, and trust, noting that when Catholic organizations link up and put these values ahead of profit, they compete better and offer hope to society. Distinguished speakers included Very Rev. Fr. James Essuon, Archdiocesan Investment Director; Mrs. Diana Quao-Osei, Regional Manager of Catholic Schools; Fr. Gideon Awuah; Fr. Francis Odoom, representing the Social Services sector; Mrs. Aku-Shika Diabah, speaking on SME growth; and representatives from the Central Regional Coordinating Council.

Nana Poku-Aikins, business owner and President of the Central Regional Chamber of Commerce, chaired the occasion. In closing remarks, Archbishop Palmer-Buckle expressed gratitude to organizers and emphasized the forum’s alignment with the universal Church’s synodal spirit. He called for a follow-up event to engage key sectors of the Archdiocese’s mission, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in enhancing the Church’s impact.
