Rev Fr Isaac Amos Abanyie appointed the Archivist and the Records Manager of the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS)
Rev Fr Amos Abanyie, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast has been appointed as the Archivist and the Record Manager of the Catholic Secretariat in Accra. In a letter dated 21st January 2025 and signed by the Bishop of Sunyani and the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Most Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi stated that the appointment takes effect from 3rd February 2025. Below is a small write-up on Fr Isaac Amos Abanyie.
Brief NOTE on Rev. Fr. Isaac Amos Abanyie
Rev. Fr. Isaac Amos Abanyie is a Catholic Priest, Ordained on 7th September 2013. He belongs to the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast. He worked at St. Joseph’s Minor Basilica as a Parochial Vicar from 2013-2016. He further worked at St. Anthony of Padua Parish- Agona Swedru with oversight responsibility for St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Agona Asafo from 2017-2024. He had his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Religions at the University of Ghana, Legon. He had his second bachelor’s degree in theology from St. Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu-Cape Coast, affiliated with Pontifical Urbaniana University, Rome. He had his Post Graduate Diploma in Education with the University of Cape Coast. He was further admitted to the Degree of Master of Arts in Information Science by the University Ghana in 2022. He has the following Research works to his credit:
“The mode of assessment in primary education and its impact on educational objectives: A case study in some selected schools in the Abura Asebu Kwamankesse District of the central region” submitted to the Department of Education in Cape Coast University, 2014.
Managing Records of Ecclesiastical Institutions in Ghana submitted to the Department of Information Studies, Legon, 2021.
Preservation of Records of Ecclesiastical Institutions in Ghana, submitted to the Department of Information Studies, Legon, 2022.
A research Paper “Reflecting on the needed Archival Renaissance in Africa”, submitted to New York University, United States, 2023.
He has been the Acting Records Manager and Archivist for the Archdiocese of Cape Coast from 2023-2024. He served as an understudying Records Manager and Archivist for the National Catholic Secretariat in Accra from 2020-2024 under the able mentorship of the late Rev. Fr. Abbom Kobrom Tseggai.
Rev. Fr. Isaac Amos Abanyie currently is the Records Manager and Archivist of the Department for Social Communication (DEPSOCOM), NCS (National Catholic Secretariat-Accra) following his appointment by the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference on 3rd February, 2025.
